Fish kill vol. 1
Rarely does one learn of the myriad of ways in which to kill a fish. Of course, the most time-honored form, fishing, is also the best known. But what of the alternatives?
Well, for the learning pleasure of our valued readers, here is a list of the many creative ways, serious and not, in which our citizens have recently served the denizen of the deep with their token death notices.
- Fernandina Beach, Amelia River: Windshield wiper fluid seeped into the marina, tinting the water blue and killing 20 fish.
- Sanford, Lake Jessup: After Hurricane Charley, power lines fell into a lake, electrocuting thousands of fish.
- Tampa, Hillsborough Bay: A Cargill fertilizer plant pours 150 million gallons of phosphoric acid into the bay, killing hundreds of fish.
