The Chick brothers - funny name, funny guys. Bill, Rock and Russ own and operate two of Gainesville's nightspot mainstays: Balls on University Avenue and Jack's Bar & Grill on Main Street. The Chick brothers are like your wild uncles who tell dirty jokes and slip you cold beers while your mom isn't looking. Which is exactly why we wanted to hang out with them.

O & B: Where did you get the names Balls and Jack's?

Russ: Well, Balls - you gotta have 'em, and, Jack's is a tribute to our grandfather, T.S. Jack Pridemore. In 1931 or '32, he got the first liquor license issued in Pompano [Beach], which was the second in Broward County. The Pompano Beach Jack's Bar & Grill is still running.

O & B: So, Russ, I hear you are a porn star.

Russ: I'm not a star.

O & B: So, let's say you dabbled in the art.

Russ: Yeah

O & B: How did you get started in the industry?

Russ: I started working for a company, getting the talent.

O & B: In "Cocktail," Tom Cruise has sex on a subway train. Where is the craziest place you have done the deed?

Russ: On a Harley going 70 mph down the road - that's a blast.

O & B: What's the best tip you ever received?

Russ: Don't eat yellow snow. In Pompano Beach, I got $100 whenever I served this one guy.

Rock: I think there was one guy who left 300 bucks. It was a small tab too.

O & B: What was the craziest thing that ever happened to you while you were working at a bar?

Russ: I got shot one night -it came out my hip. [The perpetrator] hit my manager, I threw him out and he shot me. He was mad at me. We went to Denny's and ate, and then we went to the hospital, because I know hospital food sucks.

O & B: Describe yourself in five words or less?

Russ: 'Wild crazy m***** f****** man,' and 'God's gift to women' He proceeds to describe Bill as a "worn out old dog"

Rock: Pretty nice guy from Pompano Beach. That might be six.
