about the cover...

The cover photo was taken by L.E. Baskow, who is a photojournalist with the Portland Tribune. Here is what he shared...
“We decided to go to New York because many volunteers from the Red Cross and Northwest Medical Teams from here were mobilizing to New York. Being that our mission is Portland people doing things for Portland, we tracked down as many of them as we could while also covering the disaster itself... I will never forget it as long as I live. It was a total assault on all the senses, the smell bad even through a mask.”
