KRISTEN
HINES -- I am a senior studying photojournalism and seeking
graduation this Spring with a bachelors in journalism and a minor in
general education. I am 22 and from Palm City, FL. My
photojournalism experience includes working at the Alligator and
UF's Recreational Sports Division (I took pictures for their
website). I have interned at the Hometown News in Ft. Pierce
and I am currently at The Gainesville Sun. After graduation I hope
to have a PAID internship or even a job with one of the many
newspapers I am applying for. |

TRICIA
COYNE -- Hello everyone! My
name's Tricia Coyne and I'm a junior photojournalism major from
Weston, Fla. In terms of a job or internship, the farthest
I've gotten is working for the Independent Alligator. Woo
hoo! I love to travel and have been practically all over the
world; I was born in Washington D.C., moved to Maryland, then Burma
(Myanmar), Thailand, California, and now here in sunny, warm
Florida. I'm an only child and was inspired to become a
photographer by my father. Looking forward to the trip, and
can't wait to taste some authentic German beer!

HEATHER
FLETCHER -- Hi! My name is Heather Fletcher (the one on the
left, I didn’t have any solo pics handy) and I am a senior at the
University of Georgia. I plan to graduate in December with an
undergraduate degree in Journalism and a minor in Philosophy.
I am a manager and bartender at Outback Steakhouse, as well as a
contributor to the Red and Black. This will be my first
international trip and I can’t wait to go! |
|
CRISTINA
JOURNEY -- Hey everyone!! I'm a freshman at UF and thought
this would be a really great opportunity. I am a journalism
major, but I'm not sure what kind I will be pursuing. I do not have
too much experience but thought this would be the perfect way to get
some. I have lived in Gainesville my entire life, but I could not
leave because I would rather die than be anything other than a
Gator. I currently work in a local elementary school as an after
school activity leader. I hang out and play will little kids all
afternoon. I am extremely excited about the trip and can't wait to
meet all of you. |

MATT
SANCHEZ -- Matt Sanchez is one of those word-type
journalists, but he likes cameras as well because of the little
flashy bits. He is a junior from Belle Glade, Fla. who is two years
into a pact with the devil that has landed him a job as opinions
editor at the Alligator. He would prefer to go to an MFA
program for creative writing rather than suffer a real job in
journalism, but what can you do? |
|
DYLAN
WILSON -- Hey guys! My name is Dylan Wilson and I am a senior
at UGA. I will be finishing a double major in journalism and film in
the fall and plan to be unemployed shortly thereafter. Just kidding…
Realistically, I think that I would enjoy working as a
cinematographer or director of photography for films (I’m shooting a
documentary about muscular dystrophy later in the summer). I’ve been
shooting for quite a long time (6 years I think) and am extremely
excited about this opportunity. |
|
LAUREN
MACDONALD -- I'm a UF junior majoring in journalism and
history, and I'm from Maitland, Fla. I've had little
prior experience (no jobs, no internships), aside from
sporadically stringing for the Independent Florida
Alligator. I'm not really sure about my post-college plans;
they'll probably involve newspapers, but my parents are still
rooting for law school (and my childhood dream was to be a bag
lady in Edinburgh). I'm really looking forward to experiencing
a new culture, seeing wonderful things, and learning how to spell
German names correctly. |
|
MORGAN MOELLER -- My name is Morgan Moeller and
I am from Brandon, Florida. I got my AA from the University of
Central Florida, where I wrote for the Central Florida
Future. I transferred to UF last summer and spent one semester
writing for the Alligator. I am currently interning with
Oxendine Publishing as an editorial assistant. I will graduate in
December and hope to become a feature writer for a magazine or
newspaper. This is my first trip abroad, and I can’t wait to soak up
the culture and experience everything Europe has to
offer! |
|
TREVOR
CLARK -- My name is Trevor Clark and I am a photojournalism
major at UGA. I was born in Curitiba, Brazil, then I lived in
Montreal, Canada before moving to Georgia. I love traveling
and learning about new cultures, people and places. Reading
and seeing pictures about other places is what got me into
photojournalism, and regardless of what I end up doing in my life, I
know I want to do it with a camera. I’m looking forward to meeting
everyone in Berlin. |
|
LAUREN
CARROLL --I am 21 years old and was born and raised in
Atlanta. I am a junior at the University of Georgia
studying photojournalism and German language. I am a
staff photographer at the Red and Black, our school paper, and
hope to get a first internship at a newspaper somewhere soon.
I've taken German since fourth grade and have been to Germany twice,
but was only in Berlin for a day. I love to travel, and I'm
excited about the trip and the chance to meet everybody who is
going! |
|
ANDREA
MORALES -- Hey! My name is Andrea Morales, I'm a third-year
photojournalism major/Latin American studies minor at UF and I'm so
pumped for this trip. Besides a hokey, but moderately respectable,
photo internship at the High Springs Herald and a crapload of
stringer work for the Alligator, my professional photo experience is
pretty limited. I love eating, dancing, making dumb faces in
pictures [and alternately, taking pictures of people making dumb
faces] and traveling, though all of my traveling has been done in
South America. Never been to Europe and I'm glad that this will be
my first experience! |
|
MORGAN
PETROSKI -- Hey everyone! I'm currently a junior at UF
majoring in Photojournalism and minoring in Art History. I'm 20 and
from Daytona Beach, FL. Photography is my main passion in life; has
been since my mother took away my cheap 110 camera (those old ones
that looked like a small rectangular block) when I was 6 years old
because I took too many pictures and she thought I was wasting film.
I am currently working at the Gainesville Sun as the new Photo Lab
Tech. :) I have also worked for The Alligator, Photography 35 and
Media Photographics. I can't wait to meet everyone and experience
Berlin! |
|
ANDY
APICELLA -- Hey guys, my name is Andy. I'm a junior
transfer from UCF majoring in photojournalism. I'm 21 and from
here in Gainesville, but I'm not a towny...I left for two
years, that's gotta count for something. My experience is
somewhat limited, up until this semester with 3601, I've had to
teach myself everything I knew (scary). But I've been into
photography since I was 15 and I now work for the Alligator (when I
have time...hehe.) Anyway, lookin forward to meeting you all and
going overseas for the first time. |
|
DANIELLE
GRISS -- Hey everyone! I’m a journalism student planning on
graduating in May 2006. I’ve been interning at Gainesville Weekly
for the past six months. I write the weekly movie previews. After we
get back from Berlin, I’ll be starting my summer internship at the
Gainesville Sun, which I’m really excited about. I grew up in
Connecticut and in 1996 moved to Weston, Florida (where the lovely
Tricia Coyne is from). I look forward to meeting all of you and
spending two fabulous weeks with you in Berlin! Cannot
wait! |
|
JENNIFER
SEIGAL -- Hi everybody! A 23 year-old born and raised
Californian, I go to San Jose State University majoring in
Photojournalism. This semester I joined the photo staff for the
school paper, Spartan Daily. I love to travel and have been to
Argentina and Brazil but never Europe. I'm looking forward to the
adventure and meeting all of you. |
|
JOHN
FREEMAN -- I'm the professor taking the group to Berlin. This
photo was taken during my first experience living in Germany,
when I was in the second, third and fourth grades. I've grown some
since then. My Air Force father was later assigned to Berlin, where
I graduated from high school. I'm a real sucker for nostalgia,
and look forward to returning to this fascinating city. My family
thinks that red hat belonged to my twin sister, but no one knows why
I am wearing it. |
