Past Dean, Dies at 89

(September 14, 2001) John Paul Jones, Jr., dean of the college from 1968 to 1976, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, in Gainesville following an extended illness. He was born in 1912, graduated from UF with a journalism degree in 1937 and joined the faculty in 1948. In 1981 he fulfilled a life-long dream by starting his own magazine, Florida Living.

The funeral is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 20, at 2 p.m. at the University United Methodist Church, 1320 W. University Avenue. Milam Funeral Home in Gainesville is handling arrangements.
