Kaid, Pelfrey named International Educators of the Year
The University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications has named Prof. Lynda Kaid and Lecturer Deanna Pelfrey its International Educators of the Year.
UF Provost Joe Glover will recognize Kaid and Pelfrey as the College’s winners Nov. 17 at 3 p.m. in the Keene Faculty Center in Gainesville.
An acclaimed scholar and teacher in political and global communication, Kaid has written or edited more than 20 books, many of which have an international focus. They include “The EU Expansion: Communicating Shared Sovereignty in the Parliamentary Elections” and “The Handbook of Election News Coverage Around the World.”
Kaid has written numerous refereed publications on international political communication, including research involving the United Kingdom, Poland, France, Germany, South Korea and Iraq. In 2007, she received a Fulbright Scholar grant to study political advertising in Germany. She has served on 17 doctoral and nine master’s committees for graduate students from South Korea, Romania and Ireland, among other countries.
Pelfrey has built a significant record in international public relations practice, research, teaching and service. She has been a key contributor to the Global Alliance, a consortium of public relations and communication management professional associations worldwide. She also has integrated an international focus into her classes and has engaged in numerous leadership activities in the profession that advance internationalization.
Nearly all aspects of Pelfrey’s efforts contain a global perspective, including her writing, conference presentations, class content, projects, leadership activities and career advising for students.
