Alexander Named UF Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Professor

(May 31, 2001) Laurence Alexander, Associate Professor in the Department of Journalism, has been selected as the 12th UF Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Professor, Dean Terry Hynes announced today.

His selection is for two years, 2001-03, during which he will be funded by the Alumni Association and the University to represent the University in a special way at receptions to recruit National Merit Scholars and other activities and events throughout the nation.

Nearly 100 faculty were considered for this honor by the selection committee. This is the first time a faculty member from the College of Journalism and Communications has been selected for this honor.
