Professor John Freeman on Berlin
Growing up in Berlin during the Cold War, Professor John Freeman never thought the wall would fall nor did he think he would return once he moved back to the United States.
Freeman now runs an annual study abroad trip back to the once divided city.
For two weeks, Freeman and his students document the city, tell a feature story through pictures and audio recordings and gain an international perspective on journalism.
“I’ve taken eight trips now, and it’s really rewarding to look back and see what the students have produced over the years,” said Freeman.
To showcase their work, each year a book is created with the group’s best shots along with a website to share their multimedia feature stories.
