Frequently Asked Questions about the FSPA 2008 Convention
Below are several questions that we are often asked by e-mail or on the telephone. Please read below and see if your question is answered below. If not, please e-mail your question to fspa@jou.ufl.edu and we will post an answer here. Others may have the same questions.
1. Do I have to stay at the designated hotel?
Answer: Yes. Our hotel for the 2008 convention is the Hyatt Regency in Tampa. When our delegates stay at the designated hotel the convnetion costs remain within our grasp. As well FSPA has insurance and safety concerns that cannot reach to other hotels without incredible cost increases that would ultimately be absorbed by the membership.
2. I couldn't make it to a workshop, but we want to come to the convention. What can we do?
Answer: At the 2007 convention the membership voted to change the FSPA Bylaws to enable those who could not make it to a fall workshop to still be eligible to attend the convention. As a result, if you are a current 2007-2008 high school publication member of FSPA you may attend the convention for extra cost. The extra cost is a calculation of the workshop fees added to your registration.
If you are in District 2, since there was no workshop to attend, you will have special instructions which will be posted with the registration forms in early January.
3. Why don't we have a director for District 2?
Answer: We are waiting for you to step forward.
4. Where can I get more information?
The Web site will be updated as we develop and get the materials printed.
5. What if I would like to sponsor an event or have a table for my display? We will be posting materials on the Web shortly. Contacts for those interested in FSPA Sponsorship are: FSPA Co-Convention Chair, Ms. Renee Burke and Mr. Steve Kendall, District 3 Director.
