Spring 2024 Convention Contests

These contests are open only to publication/programs registered for the 2024 convention.

Documents: Categories/Prompts | Database Instructions

Category 1 Themed Show - Create a max 10:00 broadcast news program centered on the theme "Unbelievable!" The completed show must be uploaded by 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16. Programs may use existing graphic packages and a pre-produced opening, but all other elements must be completed during the contest window (between now and the deadline). One entry per publication/program.

Category 5 News Anchor: Qualifiers have been reviewed and the following contestants will compete on Thursday night.

Category 12 Short Film --  We are offering you two options. Publications and programs may submit up to two short films total, either one A and one B or two of the same prompt. For each submission, a team of up to six students will work together to plan, create and edit a 4:00-5:00 short film based on the assigned prompt. To allow for sufficient pre-production, you may begin planning as soon as you read this. However, ALL PRODUCTION MUST TAKE PLACE AFTER THE CONVENTION OPENING CONCLUDES. We know many schools arrive early to the hotel but we expect you to be ethical; we will also provide you additional instructions when other prompts are released for the other categories. All production must take place on hotel property; students assigned to an overflow area may use the private areas of their hotel but should not assume they have permission to film in public areas of that property. Completed films are due by 11 p.m. April 18.

Category 12A FIlm TItle: It Be Like That Sometimes
Category 12B Film Title: Infinite

All other prompts will be released at the conclusion of the convention opening.
