Ogle named District 4 Teacher of the Year; Tsourakis is new student rep after fall workshop

Louisa Ogle is the new District 4 teacher of the year. The adviser of “The Pony Express” at Gaither High School in Tampa is a former district director and Student Journalist of the Year finalist  who previously worked at Tampa Bay Technical High School. She was the unanimous selection of her colleagues, who met Friday, Oct. 5. More than 700 students and advisers gathered at the University of South Florida’s Marshall Center.

Ashley Clark, a second-year adviser at East Bay High School in Gibsonton, was elected District 4 director. Clark succeeds Christine Munoz of King High School and will serve a two-year term on the FSPA Executive Board .

Four students sought the position of District 4 student rep, and Liz Tsourakis of Hillsborough High School in Tampa won the post. She replaces Marlene Miranda of Wharton High School. Tsourakis (Pronounced soar-ack-iss) is a student life editor for the Hilsborean yearbook and an editor for TB-Two*, a paper produced by the Tampa Bay Times for schools in Hillsborough and Pinellas counties. Tsourakis is also the 2012 FSPA Emerging Young Journalist.
