Biography
Tom Krynski has worked in radio-TV news since 1972, and has been news director at the University of Florida since April 1985. He has seen many changes during his tenure. WRUF uses a digital newsroom computer program, which allows anchor/producers to have a "paperless" newscast, and eliminates reel to reel tape, as well as "carts" (what's a cart?). He has been active in the Florida Associated Press Broadcasters Association(FAPB), including terms as president and vice president. He also served as a state coordinator for the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA). WRUF news students have won a variety of awards, including national SPJ honors, regional RTNDA first place awards, FAPB first place awards, and top 3 finishes in the national Hearst Journalism collegiate program. He received one of three 2004 Flanagan TOP award for Total Outstanding Performance in the UF College of Journalism and Communications. Prior to 1985, he worked in radio and television stations in Missouri and New Jersey.
