The largest gathering of Ahlem survivors since 1945 took place in May 2007 at a private screening of Angel of Ahlem at New York's Lincoln Center. The screening was hosted by the Documentary Institute for the Tott family and for the Ahlem survivors and their families. A highlight of the evening was the appearance of former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
Kissinger, who served along with Vernon in the 84th Infantry division, introduced the film to the audience saying, “I’m very proud of the film.” His introduction was followed by an on-stage reunion of the Ahlem survivors.
