high achieverstennis champion
Telecommunication major Jessica Lehnhoff claimed a national title last May, teaming with senior Whitney Laiho to win the NCAA women's tennis doubles championship. During the year, Lehnhoff--a junior from Delray Beach--and Laiho had a 34-1 record, losing only to a Stanford pair in the NCAA team semifinals. Seeded fourth going into the individual competition, the UF pair defeated a different Stanford duo for the title. The title gave them an automatic wild card into the U.S. Open in September, where they reached the third round. That finish tied the best performance by a reigning NCAA women's doubles champion in the Open. This fall she is ranked a career-best seventh in preseason singles rankings.
