Michael and Gini Geary

Virginia “Gini” Gibson Geary, PR 1987, is a librarian and adjunct professor in mass communication / library science for Matanuska-Susitna College of the University of Alaska Anchorage. She wrote, “I spent many hours studying in the College’s library…and that probably contributed to the development of my interest in and appreciation for libraries!” She and her husband, Michael, have a daughter, Meghan, who is 4. She added, “Alaska is a great place in which to live and work, though I do miss the Florida sunshine and sandy beaches as well as Gator football games.”

Evan R., JM 1990, and Janet Steinhauser, JM 1986, have lived in Alaska for 11 years. He works in the photo department of the Anchorage Daily News and she is a middle school language arts teacher. Evan wrote, “Being a photojournalist in Alaska is like being a kid in a candy store—the sheer beauty, the remote locations, the wildlife, the quality of light—it’s a great place to work and live. We’re lucky to have landed here.” Photos: Fish eye aurora borealis in Alaska skies (right top), green aurora borealis (right), Iditarod Trail sled dog race (below) by Evan Steinhauser.
