Faculty promoted to higher ranks
Three members of the faculty have new titles this fall.
She was named to the Independent Florida Alligator Hall of Fame in 1997 and was Teacher of the Year in 1992 and Faculty Service Award winner in 1982 and 1995 in the College. She worked professionally for several Florida newspapers, including The Miami Herald and Tampa Tribune. She joined the faculty in 1969.
She won the Faculty Research Award in 1995 and 1997. Her research has been published in the Journal of Advertising, Health Marketing Quarterly and the Journal of Mass Media Ethics, among others. She spent 15 years in copywriting and sales for advertising agencies and radio/TV stations. Treise joined the faculty in 1992 after completing an M.A. degree at the University of South Florida and Ph.D. degree at the University of Tennessee – Knoxville.
After a 20-year newspaper career, Carlson joined the faculty in 1993 from The Albuquerque Tribune, where he created one of the first online newspapers. He directed an experimental online newspaper in the College under a three-year grant from The New York Times. He teaches courses in Communications on the Internet, Applied Journalism and Electronic Publishing and advises the student chapter of the Society for Professional Journalists. He was honored with the Faculty Service Award in 1996. He is the author of Recent History: The Birth of Digital Journalism. |
