Florida FlyIns

Thirteen graduate and undergraduate writers and photographers from the College spent 10 days in Peru in October, documenting the community and culture of the Ayacucho region, as well as CARE's humanitarian programs there.

This is the third year of the Florida FlyIns program, which is underwritten by a grant from the St. Petersburg Times. It is the first year of the partnership with CARE, the nonprofit organization.

Professor John Kaplan, associate professor of journalism, is the instructor.

The stories and photos of students will be featured in the program's online magazine, www.internationaljournalism.com, an award-winning web site.

Previous trips were to Costa Rica and Belize.
