Family of Otis and Helen Borer Boggs establishes endowment

Gifts to two new endowments and additions to the Hugh W. Cunningham Professorship Fund have been announced by Becky Hoover, PR 1982, director of development in the College.

The new endowments include:

$50,000 for the Helen Borer Boggs and Otis Boggs Sports Broadcasting Fund. Helen Boggs died May 10 at the age of 85, and Otis Boggs, LS 1943, an Alumnus of Distinction, died Aug. 28 at the age of 82. The gift, made by Robert and Kathryn Borer, will support activities of the Department of Telecommunication.

The Borers also announced their intention to give an additional $50,000 to the fund. When it reaches $100,000, UF will be able to apply for state matching funds of $50,000. When the matching funds are provided, the $150,000 endowment will generate about $7,000 annually in support.

Connelly Professional Advancement Fund

$20,000 for the Michael and Linda Connelly Professional Advancement Fund. Michael, JM 1980, a best-selling fiction author, and his wife, Linda McCaleb Connelly, PR 1980, live in Tampa.

His most recent novels are City of Bones and Chasing the Dime.
